UK Hallmarking & What It Means To you
Required By Law , Not Just Stamped 925 or 375 or 750 By ManufacturerThese marks can not be applied by the manufacturer
Every item I stock has been delivered to London Assay Office , tested by them and then hallmarked by them, on average taking 5 to 7 days
As a small independant I am unable to carry everything GOLD in stock, and therefore most items are hallmarked after you have ordered , because 90% of my sales are bespoke and therefore " Made To Order "
If you require a signet ring very urgently and I do not have a casting in stock, I can order a die stamping from a bullion company which will arrive next day , already hallmarked , but at an extra cost of around £150.00 in 9ct gold or £300.00 in 18ct gold
Sterling silver I have a large stock of signet rings already hallmarked , 90% are my L W C Castings . I have about 20 die stampings again £100.00 extra
Most hallmarks are struck in deeply by hammering , this can distort the ring in many ways , it is therefore ecential it is done before engraving
Laser hallmarks are very shallow and delicately detailed , although suitable for pendants etc. they will not stand up to hard wear inside a ring !
